When I was a little girl, my extended family always rented a house at Bald Head Island, NC for Easter/Spring break. I looked forward to it each spring. When my grandfather purchased a lot at East Beach, we would venture down the loooong road that is now named Federal Road to check on his lot each spring. It was my favorite part of the island: the maritime forest made a tunnel-like canopy and the end of the tunnel was so light and bright. This gouache painting captures the springtime colors of the island and its canopy. It comes with a white 8-ply deep cut mat and is ready for a 16”x20” standard frame.
